Beeswax Wrap Sizes Explained: What Each One Is Actually For

Reusable beeswax wraps are one of those kitchen tools that make sense once you see them in action, but can feel confusing at first - especially when it comes to sizing.

Maybe you're finding it hard to picture how each size of wrap can fit into your real, everyday kitchen habits. You might be wondering what the smaller sizes are actually good for ('cause what does 6 x 9" mean anyways!?!) or if the Extra Large can really be that useful.

We're here to help! This guide breaks down exactly how each size is meant to be used, with real‑life examples to help you visualize where they naturally fit into your routine. It's less about rules, more “ohhh, that makes sense now!”

Itty Bitty (Approx. 4 × 5")

Small but mighty, and the one you may reach for the most!

Perfect for quick covers, odds and ends, and all the little things that usually end up wrapped in plastic “just for now.”

Try them for:

  • Half a lemon, lime, or avocado

  • Cut ginger, pepper or apple

  • Covering jars (pesto, jam, baby food)

  • Sealing opened yogurt cups or

  • Covering the end of a cucumber

  • Using them as a makeshift cork for wine bottles

Why people love this size: They are perfect for all of the smaller items that you don't want to use a whole tupperware for.

Small (Approx. 6 × 9")

Your everyday, reach-for-it-without-thinking wrap.

This size is incredibly versatile! Most of our customers find themselves reaching for this size more than they had anticipated.

Try them for:

  • Snacks in kids’ lunches

  • Covering bowls of dips, leftovers, or chopped fruit

  • Wrapping tomato or apple halves

  • Covering the ends of bunches of herbs

  • Covering a jar of overnight oats

  • Wrapping baked goods like muffins or scones

  • Covering the end of zucchini

Why people love this size: It's surprising how often we need to wrap small items in our daily lives, even just for a day (think half a banana for todays smoothie, and the other half for tomorrow's).

Medium (Approx. 10 × 10")

The workhorse of the kitchen.

If you’re only grabbing one size, this is often it. Medium wraps handle most daily food storage with ease.

Try them for:

  • Sandwich halves or small wraps

  • Covering medium bowls (great for leftovers!)

  • Wrapping larger cut vegetables (broccoli, peppers, etc.)

  • Covering sourdough starters or rising dough

  • Wrapping cheese wedges or small blocks

  • Wrapping baked goods (muffins, croissant)

  • HOT TIP 🔥: you can wrap anything we've mentioned above so far that's smaller, and just have multiple layers.

Why people love this size: It's surprisingly versatile! Big enough to cover half of a melon, compact enough to wrap up some apple slices in a small pouch.

Large (Approx. 11 × 14")

For big prep days, family meals, and on-the-go items.

Large wraps are ideal when food doesn’t fit neatly into containers... or when you want fewer dishes.

Try them for:

  • Covering large mixing bowls

  • Wrapping smaller loaves, like banana bread

  • Half a melon or cabbage

  • Covering plates or platters

  • Meal prep trays

  • Wrapping baked goods for gifting

  • Wrapping a sandwich for work
  • HOT TIP 🔥 Fold them into snack pouches for nuts, grapes, etc.

Why people love this size: It handles the larger items that you don't have a container for, or don't want to waste a ton of plastic wrap on. They also make packing lunches for work or school much easier (and lighter!)

Extra Large (Approx. 14 × 18")

The “wait, I didn’t know wraps could do that” size.

This is the one that surprises people most—and quickly becomes a favorite.

Try them for:

  • Wrapping artisan sourdough loaves

  • Covering roasting pans or sheet pans (once cooled down)

  • Wrapping large bunches of greens

  • Covering pizza or flatbread

  • Lining a bread basket or serving tray

  • Picnics: use as a placemat, then wrap leftovers

Why people love this size: It replaces bulky containers and covers the larger items you didn't think were possible to use a beeswax wrap for.

Bonus Size: Extra Extra Large

Ok so, we don't actually sell this size—but you can make it yourself!

Have you ever tried to cover something that even an Extra Large wrap wasn't big enough for? Here's a hack to attach two beeswax wraps together and make an even bigger wrap! Try it with any size: two smalls to make a Medium wrap, two Larges to make an extra large, or two Extra Larges to make an extra extra large! The concept is the same, no matter what size you're using.

A Gentle Reminder

There are so many different ways to use beeswax wraps!

Some people use them neatly. Some people use them messily. Some people forget them for weeks and then suddenly use five in a day. All of it counts.

Start with a Set of 3, which comes with a Small, Medium. and Large wrap, then add more sizes when it feels helpful. Ready to replace all of the plastic wrap in your home? We have a variety of bundles that are designed to cover all these everyday moments without overthinking it.

HOT TIP 🔥: if you find yourself forgetting about your wraps tucked away in a drawer, try keeping them on your counter! You can roll them up and keep them in a jar or cup for easy access.
