Time For a Break: 2020
To say this has been quite the year might be the understatement of the century, yet there is some sort of strange comfort in knowing this is a collective experience felt by all.
Running a small business is always a little chaotic, no matter how prepared you are there are always things that come up unexpectedly. Over time, you learn to roll with the punches and keep things going. Although 2020 has had more curveballs and ups and downs than I - or anyone - could have predicted, in the end I am full of nothing but gratitude.
I am grateful that we only had to shut down temporarily and not permanently.
I am grateful for the amount of small business love we have seen our community flooded with.
I am grateful for our team who have stuck through this bumpy ride with us.
I am grateful that this island we call home has been one of the least hard hit areas from the pandemic in our province.
I am grateful for each and every one of you.
Whether you follow us on Instagram, have made a purchase from us, or sent a kind email. You have no idea how much that means to us. We are a small team of real people who see, hear, and feel everything when it comes to Goldilocks. You, your generosity, your kindness, your support in all forms are what keep us going.
In that strange and ironic way of the universe, we got many of the things we asked for this year - getting our e-commerce store up and running; content creating from home more; shipping to the U.S. Was this how we wanted it to happen? Ab-so-lute-ly not. But sometimes these things are forced upon us in order to create a much needed change.
So here we are, winding down from the Christmas rush and headed into the end of the year. We will be doing something we've never done before: a full studio, shipping, and social media shut down. This allows each and every one of our staff to take a much needed break over the holidays so we can come back refreshed and rejuvenated (we've got some exciting things planned for 2021 after all!)

All orders placed from December 18th onward will begin shipping the first week of January.
